“I picked up this book because a) it is my wheel house of interests, b) I make an effort to listen to black American’s point of view so I can better understand and ameliorate race issues in America and c) I like to learn from people who are very different from me to gain insights I would not likely get. I’ve never been much into rap, I do object to misogynistic lyrics, and I sure as heck have never been a fan of the drug/thug culture. Curtis Jackson DELIVERED. His telling of surviving in a drug culture in Queens and how he transformed from a 12 year old kid hustling to making it as a rapper to now a entertainment mogul is delivered in a well thought out, articulate and applicable to one’s daily life in all aspects. I highly recommend this book if you have aspirations that you wish to achieve and are not looking for an excuse as to why you can’t get what you want.
